The Pembroke Vineyard is located at the entrance to the Coal River Valley in southern Tasmania on approximately one hectare. The vineyard predominantly grows Pinot Noir along with a very small range of classic white varieties including Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyard is a certified plot and has produced clonal material for distribution to the fledgling Tasmanian wine industry in its establishment phase. The vineyard was established in 1980 and was one of the first vineyards to be established in the Coal River Valley some 25 years ago. The vines have now reach maturity and this wine displays that perfect balance of sweet fruit and complex spicy characters. We have been making a vintage each year for a couple of decades and whilst the climatic factors vary the intensity of the wine, the quality never varies. The Pinot Noir made from mature 25 year old vines. With good colour and typical cool climate fruit character, the grapes are hand picked in the March/April vintage season, crushed, fermented to dryness and placed in French Oak. The wine is then bottled in the next year just before the next harvest and released for sale on the first of September each year.
